AMD CEO Lisa Su announced that chips manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) at its Arizona facilities will cost 5% to 20% more than those produced in Taiwan.

She made these comments during an AI-focused event in Washington on July 23, 2025.

Su said that AMD expects to receive its first batch of chips from TSMC’s Arizona plants by the end of 2025.

The event was hosted by the All-In Podcast team, along with tech leaders and lawmakers from the Hill and Valley Forum.

During her speech, Su highlighted the increasing demand for AI chips. She noted investments in AI by figures such as OpenAI’s Sam Altman and xAI’s Elon Musk.

AMD competes in the AI accelerator market, which powers AI models, alongside Nvidia.

Su projected substantial growth in the AI chip market, estimating it could exceed US$500 billion in the coming years.
