Amazon’s cloud reportedly hit by two outages linked to AI tools
Amazon’s cloud unit experienced at least two outages in December linked to errors involving its AI tools, according to the Financial Times.
One incident in mid-December caused a 13-hour disruption when the AI coding tool Kiro was used to make system changes.
An Amazon Web Service (AWS) spokesperson said the outage was brief and caused by user error, specifically misconfigured access controls, and did not affect core services such as compute, storage, database, or AI technologies.
The spokesperson noted the affected service was limited to one region in mainland China.
This follows a major outage in October that impacted global users and affected services like Reddit, Roblox, and Snapchat.
