Amazon CEO Andy Jassy outlined tentative plans to enhance the capabilities of the Alexa assistant.

Jassy stated that Amazon is reworking Alexa’s core models to improve its functionality. It may allow Alexa to perform tasks beyond simply answering questions

This initiative involves integrating generative AI, announced initially in 2023.

The upgraded version may come with a subscription fee ranging from US$5 to US$10 monthly. A free basic version will also be available.

Its availability, initially planned for 2024, has been postponed to 2025.
