Amazon to help Vietnam become ecommerce export hub in SEA
Amazon said it will help Vietnam become a key ecommerce export hub in Southeast Asia, according to a meeting between Amazon’s VP for international public policy & government affairs Susan Pointer and Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long in Hanoi on December 5.
The US tech giant has been working with Vietnamese small and medium-sized businesses to boost exports, with Pointer saying the number of products sold globally by Vietnamese sellers on Amazon rose 35% over the past year.
Amazon Global Selling Vietnam recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency to launch the “V-Brands Go Global with Amazon” program, which will provide export training and certification for 1,000 local businesses.
Amazon also discussed increasing Vietnamese participation in its electronic components supply chain, and proposed expanding cooperation in digital technology, data, and AI skills training for high-quality human resources.
The Vietnamese government said it will keep improving mechanisms and supporting innovation to strengthen the country’s digital economy.
