Amazon tests enterprise satellite internet service to rival SpaceX

Amazon said it will begin allowing select businesses to test its rebranded satellite internet service, now called Amazon Leo, as part of an enterprise preview.

The service aims to compete with SpaceX’s Starlink, which already has about 9,000 satellites in operation.

Amazon Leo’s network began as Project Kuiper and is designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet.

Since April, Amazon has launched over 150 satellites using partners such as United Launch Alliance and SpaceX.

Amazon has inked deals with companies like JetBlue, L3Harris, and Australia’s NBN.

It is shipping “Pro” terminals and “Ultra” antennas to members of its enterprise preview program.

Amazon has not yet announced consumer pricing or availability.
