Amazon confirmed Jennifer Salke’s departure as head of Amazon MGM Studios as part of a leadership streamlining effort.

Moving forward, film and TV studio heads will report directly to Mike Hopkins, head of Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video.

Salke, who joined in 2018 after working at NBC, oversaw projects like Reacher, Jack Ryan, The Boys, and Fallout.

Despite major investments, projects like The Rings of Power and Citadel faced criticism for high costs and impact. The Rings of Power reportedly cost over US$1 billion but fell short of global success, while Citadel saw delays due to its reception.

Amazon has also struggled with the James Bond franchise since acquiring MGM in 2022, facing creative control challenges with longtime producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Following her exit, Salke plans to launch her own film and TV production company, with a first-look deal at Amazon.
