Amazon Q2 net sales grow 20% to $200.6b
Amazon reported second-quarter results for the period ended June 30, 2026.
Net sales rose 20% year on year to US$200.6 billion, and operating income increased 43% to US$27.5 billion, led by North America, international markets, and Amazon Web Services.
Net income rose to US$62.6 billion from US$18.2 billion.
Amazon said second-quarter net income included US$53.4 billion in non-operating, pre-tax other income, mainly from its investments in Anthropic.
Such gains were revalued each quarter under fair-value accounting rather than generated by operations.
AWS sales increased 37% to US$42.2 billion, and operating income climbed to US$16.6 billion.
That growth trailed Microsoft Azure, which grew 43%, and Google Cloud, which grew 82%.
Trailing 12-month free cash flow shifted to an outflow of US$7.6 billion from an inflow of US$18.2 billion as spending on property and equipment increased.
Amazon said the increase was mainly due to a year-on-year rise of US$66.1 billion in that spending and reflected AI investments, after a first quarter in which capex hit US$44.2 billion largely for AI infrastructure.
