Amazon plans $1.2b investment in Belgium by 2027

Amazon will invest 1 billion euros (US$1.2 billion) in Belgium by 2027, the company announced during a Belgian economic mission to California.

The investment will focus on infrastructure, hiring mechatronics staff in Hamme, and expanding services for local SMEs using its platform.

The US-based ecommerce giant aims to launch same-day parcel deliveries in Belgium in the coming months.

Amazon will continue working with bpost but plans to diversify its logistics operations.

The company currently employs about 400 people in Belgium.
