Amazon Now launching 100 larger fulfilment hubs in India
Amazon’s quick-commerce arm, Amazon Now, is launching 100 larger fulfilment centers in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai ahead of Prime Day in July, expanding its product range in India’s fast-growing delivery market.
The 20,000 sq ft facilities will hold four to five times more products than a typical Amazon Now center, which carries 15,000 to 20,000 stock-keeping units.
They will add categories such as electronics, fans, humidifiers, and other everyday items.
Some orders will be delivered in 10 minutes or less, while others may take 10 to 20 minutes depending on distance, vice president Abhinav Singh said.
Amazon launched Amazon Now earlier this year in Bengaluru and later expanded it to Delhi and Mumbai.
The company had previously said the service had about 100 micro-fulfilment centers and planned to end the year with well over 300.
Amazon said in April it would invest an additional US$233 million in its India infrastructure and operations network, on top of its broader commitment to invest US$15 billion in India by 2030.
