Amazon launches AI drug discovery app

Amazon’s cloud unit has launched Amazon Bio Discovery, an AI app for early drug discovery.

It lets scientists run computational workflows without coding and send shortlisted molecules to lab partners for synthesis and testing.

Amazon Web Services said the product combines biological foundation models that generate and evaluate drug molecules with an AI agent that helps users choose models, set parameters, and interpret results.

It named Bayer, the Broad Institute, and Voyager Therapeutics as early users.

Rajiv Chopra, AWS vice president for healthcare AI and life sciences, said work that once took 18 months to produce 300 potential drug candidates can now take a couple of weeks.

AWS said the service will start with a free trial with five experimental units before moving to subscription tiers.
