Amazon joins AI startup Twelve Labs’ planned $100m round

San Francisco-based Twelve Labs, a video AI startup founded by Korean-born engineers, is raising US$100 million in a series B round co-led by NEA and Naver Ventures, with Amazon also participating.

The company said Amazon Web Services signed a multiyear agreement to host its workloads on Trainium chips.

The financing follows a US$30 million strategic round backed by Databricks, Snowflake Ventures, SK Telecom, HubSpot Ventures, and In-Q-Tel.

A later company post said Twelve Labs’ total funding had reached US$107.1 million, though that figure predates the newly announced series B.

Twelve Labs said its models are used in media, sports, advertising, government, and security for tasks including video search, highlight creation, content moderation, and evidence management.

Naver said its planned Silicon Valley venture arm would invest in North American startups, starting with Twelve Labs.
