Amazon to invest additional $5b in South Korea data centers
Amazon will invest an additional US$5 billion in South Korea to build new data centers through 2031, according to the country’s presidential office.
The planned investment follows an earlier announcement in June of more than US$4 billion in spending with local partner SK Group.
Amazon Web Services is expanding its infrastructure in the country as global tech companies compete to develop data centers supporting AI services.
The move comes as firms like Meta and Microsoft also increase data center spending across Asia, driven by rising demand for cloud and AI technologies.
