Amazon said at its Ignite Live conference in Las Vegas that it will invest an additional US$1.9 billion in its Delivery Service Partner program this year and roll out new safety and routing tools for delivery businesses in the US and Canada.

The company said it has invested more than US$543 million in safety initiatives, programs, and technology since 2022. Amazon added that serious vehicle crashes across its delivery network fell by more than 23% last year.

It said surround-view cameras will be installed in 50% of Rivian electric delivery vehicles by the end of the year, alongside added hazard alerts in its delivery app.

Amazon also said it is expanding AI-based tools such as mapping software and smart glasses for drivers.

The company also committed US$70 million over five years to community initiatives led by Delivery Service Partners and backed by Amazon.

The announcement comes as Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner model faces labor scrutiny.

The Teamsters said in October 2024 that the National Labor Relations Board had moved toward treating Amazon as a joint employer of Delivery Service Partner workers, while Amazon prevailed in a June 2026 NLRB case on that issue.
