Amazon, Google back Asia Tech Alliance launch in Singapore
The Asia Tech Alliance (ATA), a new regional industry association, launched in Singapore on November 24 with the backing of 12 global tech firms, including Amazon, Booking.com, Google, and LINE.
ATA aims to represent Asia-Pacific’s technology sector and facilitate collaboration between governments, industry, and communities in the region.
The group plans to support policy development and encourage private-public-community engagement to address challenges from rapid technological change.
The alliance will also introduce policy sandboxes and forums to test new approaches to tech policy.
Lih Shiun Goh, ATA’s managing director, said the alliance brings together global tech companies to work with regional policymakers on responsible technology development.
ATA was formed to help shape technology policy that reflects the Asia-Pacific region’s interests.
