Amazon expands low-cost shopping app to 14 countries

Amazon has launched its new Amazon Bazaar app in 14 additional markets, expanding its low-cost fashion, home, and lifestyle shopping experience.

The app extends the Amazon Haul model, previously available in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

It now serves customers in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Nigeria.

Most products on the app are priced under US$10, with some items as low as US$2.

The app offers shopping in six languages, supports major credit cards, and accepts returns within 15 days of receipt.

Amazon said it is available on iOS and Android app stores in the eligible locations.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Amazon Bazaar hides fulfillment details that define its edge vs Temu and Shein

  • Amazon Bazaar is a budget shopping app from Amazon. It withholds basics on fulfillment like cross-border shipping from China or local stock, typical delivery times 1, and any fees beyond a standard delivery charge 2.
  • Those choices set unit economics (profitability per order after shipping and fees) and pricing power for sub-$10 items where Temu and Shein compete 13. Cross-border shipping from China cuts prices but slows delivery, while local warehousing speeds arrival but raises costs, which puts $2 entry prices at risk 13.
  • Until Amazon clarifies logistics, Bazaar could be either a durable cost play or a user acquisition push funded by subsidies against Temu and Shein 3.

Payments firms can spot checkout gaps by checking which local methods Bazaar omits

  • Bazaar accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express 12. The announcements mention no local digital wallets (mobile apps that store funds or cards) or cash-on-delivery (paying when the package arrives).
  • Processors and wallet firms can pitch integrations that lift checkout conversion. In the Philippines, GCash sees wide use. In Nigeria, shoppers often pick bank transfers or local wallets.
  • Amazon is rolling into 14 price-sensitive markets at once 1, so it may favor payment partners that scale across many countries over one-off local deals.
