Amazon debuts Blue Jay robot to handle multiple warehouse tasks
Amazon has introduced new robotics and AI tools aimed at improving safety and efficiency for its front-line workers, including a robotics system called Blue Jay and an agentic AI model named Project Eluna.
Blue Jay, now being tested in South Carolina, uses multiple robotic arms to handle tasks like picking and stowing items, while Project Eluna is being deployed in Tennessee to help operations teams identify bottlenecks and plan workflows using real-time data.
Amazon is also developing smart glasses for delivery drivers, providing hands-free access to information and AI-based hazard detection, and has expanded virtual reality training for delivery drivers, with over 300,000 drivers completing modules since 2022.
The company is extending its free home food delivery program through 2028, delivering groceries to families in need in the US and UK.
Amazon reported that its AI tools have helped reduce packaging waste, and are being used in disaster response and clean energy projects, including investments in nuclear energy and water conservation across its operations.
