This rise, along with an uptick in US election-related advertising spending, contributed to higher YouTube earnings.

Alphabet shares rose by nearly 6% in after-market trading.

Though facing competition from Amazon, TikTok, and regulatory challenges over its search monopoly, Alphabet’s cloud business achieved US$11.35 billion.
