Alphabet plans India major office expansion as US visa curbs

Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent, plans to expand its office space in Bangalore, India, with potential new offices totaling 2.4 million sq ft in Alembic City.

The company has leased one 650,000 sq ft tower and holds options on two others, with the first tower expected to open soon and construction on the remaining two set to finish next year.

If fully used, the new space could house up to 20,000 additional employees, more than doubling Alphabet’s India workforce of around 14,000.

The expansion comes as US visa restrictions push firms to hire more talent in India, with Google actively recruiting for AI, cloud, and engineering roles after opening its largest Bangalore campus.
