Alphabet-backed fleet software firm Motive files for IPO

Motive, a fleet management software company backed by Alphabet’s GV and other investors, has filed for an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “MTVE.”

Founded in 2013 and based in San Francisco, Motive develops software for managing trucks and drivers.

In Q3 2025, it reported US$115.8 million in revenue and a net loss of US$62.7 million, with revenue up 23% year-on-year and net loss widening from US$41.3 million in Q3 2024.

The company had nearly 100,000 clients as of September and employs over 4,500 people, including 400 data annotators to support its AI models.

Most of its revenue comes from software subscriptions, though it also sells hardware and services.
