Alipay expands AI payment tools for businesses, users
Alipay launched AI Wallet and Token Pay in Hangzhou on May 26, expanding its AI payment system for transactions started by AI agents for consumers and businesses.
AI Wallet lets users manage tasks handled by AI agents before and during payment and review spending afterward in the Alipay app.
Token Pay is for AI model companies that need global subscription payments, token top-ups in AI agents, and related transaction services.
The rollout builds on AI Pay, introduced in 2025, which lets users authorise purchases through AI agents.
Alipay said activation requires identity verification, each payment needs user approval, and transactions are monitored by a 24/7 risk-control system.
Alipay said AI Pay reached 100 million users in February 2026 and has handled 300 million transactions to date.
The launch comes as China-specific rules for agentic AI remain nascent, and as Visa rolls out similar agent-payment tools outside China.
