Alipay brings AI agent tools to offline merchants

Alipay, China’s digital payments and services platform, said on July 8 in Hangzhou that it is linking its Tap! merchant devices to AI agent Xiaoyu, bringing AI tools to offline businesses in China.

The company said Alipay Tap!, launched two years ago, has served 400 million users, millions of merchants, and 30 million devices.

Alipay said merchants can use Xiaoyu for operations analysis, and Taobao Instant Commerce integration. The service supports orders through the Taobao app using Ele.me delivery.

The move follows Alipay’s May launch of AI payment infrastructure. The company said AI Pay had processed more than 300 million transactions as of May 2026.
