AliExpress plans to incubate 100 AI hardware brands
Alibaba-owned AliExpress and Alibaba’s domestic ecommerce platform Tmall launched the China Brands Global Growth Plan on October 19, with seven support measures for leading brands, emerging AI hardware brands, and factory brands selling in China and overseas.
AliExpress plans angel-round investments in selected AI hardware brands, alongside Brand+ and Tmall operational support, with the aim of incubating more than 100 AI hardware brands.
AliExpress said sales in its AI hardware categories doubled year on year from January to July 2026.
The launch follows Alibaba’s 2024 move to create a new ecommerce business group.
Analysts said mass production, compliance, and local operations remain bottlenecks for AI hardware brands expanding overseas, while brand retention is an important performance measure.
In Europe, relevant rules may include provisions under the European Union’s AI Act, which regulates AI, and the Data Act, which affects devices classified as connected products.
