China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced the formation of an AI standards committee, which includes key executives from major tech companies such as Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, and Huawei.

The 41-member committee will develop and revise standards in various AI-related areas. These include assessment, testing, data sets, LLMs, and application development management.

Notable members include Ma Yanjun from Baidu, Judy Zhu Hongru from Alibaba, Jiang Jie from Tencent, and You Fang from Huawei.

The committee also features representatives from several AI firms, including SenseTime and iFlyTek, as well as financial technology provider Ant Group, chip designer Moore Threads, and automaker Changan Automobile.

Additionally, experts from state-owned telecom companies China Unicom, China Telecom, and China Mobile, alongside academics from Peking University and Tsinghua University, are part of this initiative.

This establishment aligns with the Chinese government’s goal of creating 50 sets of AI standards by 2026.
