Alibaba splits AI team to focus on consumers, businesses
Alibaba Group Holding has reorganized its AI operations by separating the team responsible for its chatbot, Tongyi Qianwen, from its large language model (LLM) research team.
This restructuring aims to enhance focus on consumer-facing products.
The Tongyi Qianwen team will now operate under the Intelligent Information Platform, which oversees consumer-oriented platforms like UC Browser and Quark search engine.
Meanwhile, the research arm, Tongyi Lab, will remain part of Alibaba Cloud to prioritize foundational AI research and support designated products.
