Alibaba Group is closing its quantum computing research lab, which could indicate more potential cutbacks to enhance profitability. Its equipment will be donated to Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.

Around 30 staff members will be let go, however, Alibaba may assist some in finding positions at the university.
