Alibaba opens Qwen app to third-party AI agents

Alibaba said it was opening the Qwen App ecosystem in China to third-party agents and skills on June 3, letting brands offer ordering and other services in the app through conversational prompts.

The company said KFC, Luckin Coffee, and Mixue Group were among the first to test the feature.

KFC was the first restaurant brand to go live, linking more than 13,000 stores in China for ordering, payment, and pickup based on requests such as budget, location, and timing.

Qwen App is Alibaba’s standalone consumer AI app and can execute actions such as food ordering, in-chat payments, and travel booking through Alibaba services.

Alibaba also said Qwen App handled more than 100 million daily lifestyle-service interactions through dozens of integrated agents.

Its AI shopping features had attracted about 140 million users by February.
