Alibaba merges enterprise AI tools to battle Tencent
Alibaba confirmed on July 2 that it is merging its enterprise AI agent products, QoderWork, Wukong, and MuleRun. These three tools will be integrated into a single enterprise productivity platform build on QoderWork.
The new product will combine desktop work, enterprise collaboration, and agent execution.
Alibaba said the existing services of all three products will be seamlessly upgraded.
The consolidation follows the appointment of Chen Yusen as CEO of both DingTalk and Wukong in mid-June.
This leadership shakeup comes after internal criticism over the workplace apps’ sluggish AI transformation, which also led to the departure of founder Chen Hang.
Alibaba Cloud described DingTalk as an AI-enhanced workspace. Alibaba also placed Wukong under its Token Hub group after a broader AI reorganization, suggesting the merger is part of a wider effort to streamline its enterprise AI products.
The consolidation also comes as Tencent bets on AI agents in a broader race with Alibaba and ByteDance for users in China.
