Alibaba launches Accio Work AI agent for enterprise tasks
Alibaba International has unveiled Accio Work, an enterprise AI agent product it said is designed to help small and mid-sized firms run cross-border commerce tasks with little or no coding.
Accio was introduced in November 2024 as an AI-powered B2B sourcing tool, and the company said it now has over 10 million monthly active users before expanding it into a broader work agent.
Alibaba said Accio Work can handle tasks such as VAT and customs paperwork in more than 100 markets, run RFQs and supplier negotiations, and connect to tools such as Telegram and WhatsApp for marketing and logistics workflows.
The company said sensitive actions require user approval, and users can choose not to store data on servers, and it plans to make Accio Work available at Accio.com by the end of March.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Alibaba’s new agent leans on its data and a tighter race
- Alibaba International trained Accio Work on 1 billion product listings and 50 million supplier profiles. It aims to automate large parts of B2B sourcing instead of acting like a general AI assistant 1.
- Accio Work supports Alibaba’s financial plan. AI-driven services already bring in over 20% of Alibaba’s income from external customers 2.
- The release lands in a busier agentic AI market. Tencent and Zhipu AI (a Chinese AI startup) recently rolled out their own agent products, which signals a wider industry shift 3.
A playbook for automating full professional workflows
- Accio Work targets cross-border commerce work such as value-added tax (VAT) and customs paperwork, requests for quotation (RFQs) and supplier negotiations. It also connects to Telegram and WhatsApp for marketing and logistics workflows [summary].
- The approach pairs a company’s unique data with an AI agent. It offers a model for fields like finance or law where teams handle specialized, high-stakes processes beyond chat.
- By giving a solo founder the reach of a sourcing team, these tools could lower the barrier to launching and scaling a global product business. That could support a new class of micro-multinational companies 4.
