Alibaba is set to unveil its first AI smart glasses this week, marking its entry into the competitive AI wearable market. This launch is the company’s first AI product release since it restructured its AI-to-consumer businesses in late 2024.

The glasses are expected to include features such as voice assistance, music playback, phone calls, real-time translation, and meeting transcription. They will integrate with Alibaba’s ecosystem, including services like Alipay and Taobao.

For AI capabilities, the device will utilize Alibaba’s LLM Tongyi Qianwen, along with its AI-powered search service, Quake. The hardware will offer two versions: a standard model without a display and a higher-end AI+AR version with a display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1.

The product is a collaboration between Alibaba’s Tmall Genie hardware team and the Quake AI research team.

Other tech companies, including Xiaomi, Baidu, and ByteDance, are also entering the AI glasses market, increasing competition.
