Alibaba joins wearables race with Quark AI glasses launch

Alibaba has launched its new Quark AI glasses in China, entering the global wearables market where Meta leads.

The headset, priced from 1,899 yuan (US$268), runs on Alibaba’s Qwen AI and connects with apps like Alipay and Taobao for features such as real-time translation and price recognition.

The glasses have a design similar to regular eyewear.

Other tech giants, including Samsung, have released AI-powered headsets this year, while Apple sells its Vision Pro.

Meta currently holds about 80% of the global VR headset market.

Xiaomi launched comparable AI glasses in June 2025, and Baidu already has a similar product on sale.
