Alibaba debuts its first AI smart glasses

Alibaba Group Holding has launched its first AI-powered smart glasses, named Quark, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.

The glasses made their public debut on July 26.

The development is complete, with an official launch planned for later this year, though no specific date has been given.

This marks Alibaba’s entry into the smart glasses market, joining domestic competitors like Rokid and Xreal.

Earlier this year, Alibaba collaborated with AR glasses maker RayNeo to enhance its products with AI.

The Quark launch aligns with its broader AI strategy. In February, Alibaba announced a US$53 billion investment in AI infrastructure over three years.

The investment will support its Qwen AI model series for software and hardware improvements.
