Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba Group’s cloud-computing arm, said a survey it commissioned found 92% of Malaysian organizations were confident about adopting AI.

It also found 60% were already exploring or implementing AI initiatives.

All Malaysian respondents said they planned to increase AI investment. This included 97% who expected to raise spending on AI infrastructure as a service (IaaS). More than 90% who planned further investment in AI platforms as a service (PaaS) and model services (MaaS).

Across Asia, 75% of surveyed companies said AI had become indispensable to their operations. Meanwhile 45% said they preferred integrated AI and cloud offerings over hybrid or standalone approaches.

The survey identified data privacy and security as the biggest barrier to AI adoption, cited by 48% of respondents, followed by implementation costs at 42% and a lack of internal expertise at 37%.

Respondents cited common AI use cases including data analysis and decision-making, customer service, marketing and content creation.
