Alibaba Cloud on August 28 launched a cloud region in Brazil to serve enterprise customers and developers.

It is the company’s second region in Latin America after opening one in Mexico in February 2025.

The Brazil region has two availability zones and initially offers computing, storage, and database services. It will launch enterprise AI services later.

Alibaba Cloud said its infrastructure now spans 31 regions and 106 availability zones worldwide.

For customers in Brazil, local infrastructure could help with compliance planning because the country’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD).

The law allows transfers of personal data abroad only under certain safeguards, while it does not require customer content to be stored in Brazil.
