Alibaba cloud backs AI video startup ShengShu in $293m round
Alibaba’s cloud unit led a 2 billion yuan (US$293 million) funding round for ShengShu Technology, as competition in China’s AI video market intensifies.
Baidu Ventures and Luminous Ventures also joined the round, without disclosing its valuation. The deal came about two months after the company raised 600 million yuan (US$87.8 million).
Chinese tech groups including ByteDance, Alibaba, and Kuaishou have been pulled into the race for AI video tools.
Founded in 2023, ShengShu said it will use the new funds to develop a general world model.
