Alibaba chip unit raises registered capital to $148m

Alibaba’s chip unit T-Head Semiconductor has increased the registered capital of its Shanghai semiconductor subsidiary from 300 million yuan (US$44.3 million) to 1 billion yuan (US$148 million), according to business registry tracker Qichacha.

This was an increase of about 233.33%. Qichacha shows the company was established in November 2018, with Bao Wenjun as its legal representative.

It is wholly owned by T-Head (Shanghai) Electronic Technology.

According to T-Head Semiconductor’s website, the company is Alibaba Group’s wholly owned chip business and handles chip research and development.
