Akamai Technologies said on June 10 that its Asia Pacific business generated more than US$1 billion in annual revenue in 2025.

The company said it is shifting its regional focus toward AI inference closer to users.

Akamai reported US$3.11 billion in total revenue for the first nine months ended September 30, 2025.

International markets contributed US$1.53 billion, although Akamai’s filing only breaks down revenue into US and international segments.

Akamai said the strategy centers on edge infrastructure and its Inference Cloud, which is available in 20 initial locations globally.

The service combines Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition graphics processing units, BlueField-3 data processing units, and Akamai’s network of more than 4,200 locations.

Fortune Business Insights estimated Asia Pacific’s edge AI market at US$9.83 billion in 2025, or 27.4% of global revenue.

It said the region is expected to record the highest compound annual growth rate.

Competing services also suggest a broader industry shift. Cloudflare said Workers AI runs inference close to users in more than 200 cities.
