Airbnb tops Q2 estimates, forecasts strong Q3
Airbnb, a US-based online marketplace for short-term stays and travel experiences, reported second-quarter results above analysts’ estimates.
The company also forecast current-quarter revenue of US$4.69 billion to US$4.77 billion, above the US$4.61 billion expected by analysts tracked by LSEG.
The company cited strong demand “across all regions,” sending its shares up 9% in extended trading in the US.
Revenue rose 17% year on year from US$3.1 billion. Net income increased to US$816 million from US$642 million, or US$1.03 per share.
Free cash flow climbed 30% to US$1.25 billion from US$962 million.
Airbnb said bookings growth in the US and Canada, and in Europe and the Middle East, was in the high single digits.
Asia Pacific bookings growth was in the high teens, while Latin America bookings growth was about 20%, with particular strength in Brazil and Mexico.
