Airbnb shares surge 15% after strong Q4 earnings
Airbnb’s shares surged 15% in after-hours trading on Feb. 13 after reporting stronger-than-expected Q4 earnings.
The company posted earnings of 73 cents per share, surpassing the expected 58 cents, with revenue reaching US$2.48 billion, up 12% from last year.
Net income stood at US$461 million, a sharp turnaround from the US$349 million loss a year ago.
However, Airbnb’s Q1 2025 revenue projection of US$2.23 billion to US$2.27 billion fell slightly below analysts’ US$2.3 billion forecast.
Key metrics showed a 4% rise in adjusted profit to US$765 million, with 111 million nights and experiences booked, a 12% increase.
The average daily rate edged up 1% to $158.
Airbnb now has over five million hosts and eight million active listings. Additionally, Airbnb.org has helped over 19,000 people and 2,300 pets affected by Los Angeles wildfires.
The company credits its improved conversion rates to tech infrastructure upgrades and plans to introduce new offerings in May.
