Global shipments of AI-enabled smartphones are projected to increase by 73.1% year-on-year in 2025, according to a report by market consultancy IDC.

The report indicates a significant adoption of generative AI features, which is expected to drive growth in the sector.

This growth will continue with double-digit annual increases, reaching 912 million units by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 78.4% from 2024 to 2028.

Advancements in AI on smartphones are expected to drive upgrades, creating opportunities for vendors and app developers.

In line with this trend, Samsung Electronic launched its Galaxy S25 series on Jan. 23, featuring multimodal AI that generates text, images, audio, and video.
