AI video startup PixVerse hits unicorn status after series C round

PixVerse, an AI video generation company, closed a series C that it described as the largest funding round in Asia for the AI video generation category, making it a global AI unicorn.

The funding round was led by CDH Investments and included participation from Antler, EnvisionX Capital, iGlobe Partners, Lion X Ventures, UOB Venture Management, 3W Fund, and other investors.

Alibaba-backed PixVerse, which generates video from prompts, images, or clips, said it had surpassed 100 million users across 175 countries by September 2025.

The company launched R1 in January 2026 as a real-time video generation model. Its V5.6 ranked No. 2 globally for image-to-video and text-to-video generation, according to  Artificial Analysis.

PixVerse also opened a Singapore office to support enterprise sales, partnerships, and market development.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

PixVerse’s funding follows investment from Alibaba

  • A newly announced Series C round leaves out a $60 million Series B led by Alibaba in September 2025, which matters for understanding its backing from a large technology firm 1.
  • PixVerse says it has 100 million users and it has also been available through Discord, a group-chat app, where people generate videos using text prompts 2.
  • The company also centers R1, which PixVerse calls a “real-time world model” for interactive media and simulations 3.
  • R1 is not broadly available and PixVerse routes access through a limited application programming interface (API) waitlist for qualified partners 4.

AI video is shifting from content creation to world simulation

  • PixVerse’s R1 pushes past generative AI tools that make short video clips, which some people say could threaten human creators 5.
  • The stated aim is new product categories built on an “infinite, continuous, and interactive visual stream” 3.
  • PixVerse links the tech to AI-native gaming, interactive cinema, and industrial simulations where environments change with user input in real time 3.
  • The pitch frames PixVerse as infrastructure for interactive media, similar to how voice AI company Deepgram, which sells speech-to-text and related voice tools via an API for businesses, presents itself as an API platform for business-to-business (B2B) voice AI 6.
