US AI startup Plaud to invest $15.7m in Singapore
Plaud, a San Francisco-based company that builds wearable AI tools for professionals, opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore on September 16.
The company said it will invest at least S$20 million (US$15.7 million) in engineering, product development, and regional operations.
The amount doubled an earlier S$10 million (US$7.86 million) commitment.
The 15,000 sq ft office at Marina Bay Financial Centre will serve as Plaud’s regional base for 12 markets outside Japan and mainland China.
Plaud said its Singapore team grew from 10 employees to about 100 in nine months and hit its original end-2026 hiring target three months early.
The company, which launched in 2023, also said it now serves more than 2.5 million users globally.
The expansion comes as companies using workplace recording tools in Singapore may need to obtain consent for recorded conversations and manage data under the Personal Data Protection Act.
