Mercor, a company connecting human expertise with AI labs and enterprises, has raised US$350 million in a series C round led by Felicis, with participation from Benchmark, General Catalyst, and Robinhood Ventures.
The funding values the company at US$10 billion, a fivefold increase from its previous round.
Mercor said it will use the new capital to expand its talent network, enhance its AI-human matching capabilities, and speed up project delivery.
Founded nearly three years ago, the company links professionals such as doctors, bankers, and lawyers with AI projects to help train models in specialized tasks.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Mercor’s $10 billion valuation hinges on a non-recurring AI training boom
- ARR near $450 million 1. A few large AI labs, including OpenAI 1, drive a big chunk 1. Scale AI, a data-labeling and model evaluation provider, saw a Meta investment prompt client reviews 2.
- Mercor charges an hourly finder’s fee plus a matching rate before paying contractors 1. Take-rate margin is unclear.
- In H1 2025, profit reached $6 million 1. Gross spend is booked before contractor payouts 1, which makes unit economics and take-rate hard to read from ARR.
- Expert-in-the-loop Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) work faces commoditization as Labelbox 3 (data-labeling software), Surge AI 4 (specialized annotation marketplace), and Toloka 5 (crowdsourcing platform) offer similar services.
Compliance and identity verification vendors can address cross-border and regulatory gaps
- A 30-person team at Mercor manages contractors across doctors, lawyers, and bankers 6. That opens space for Employer of Record (EOR) providers and payroll firms that handle multi-jurisdiction compliance.
- Identity verification startups can sell into RLHF platforms that need credentials checked as Appen 5 (crowdsourced data provider), Scale AI 7 and Labelbox 3 stress domain expertise, driving demand for automated professional licensing checks.
- Data handling vendors for biotech RLHF can plug into platforms that stress Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance 2.
- AI infrastructure investors can watch Mercor’s Reinforcement Learning (RL) software expansion 1 as tools that automate preference ranking (ordering model outputs by human preference) and reward modeling (learning a scoring function) cut reliance on costly human annotators.
