Venture capital investment in AI startups reached US$192.7 billion so far in 2025, setting a new global record, according to PitchBook.

In the most recent quarter, 53.2% of global VC dollars went to AI companies, and US investors dedicated 62.7% of their funding to the sector.

Major funding rounds went to established names like Anthropic and xAI, while smaller and non-AI startups struggled to attract capital.

PitchBook data also shows a sharp drop in the number of startups securing venture funding and in the number of venture funds raising new money, with only 823 funds raising over US$80 billion so far this year, compared to 4,430 funds raising US$412 billion in 2022.

Total global VC deals have reached US$366.8 billion in 2025, with US$250.2 billion of that in the US.
