US AI shopping app Phia nets $8m seed round led by Kleiner Perkins

Phia, a shopping app founded by Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, has raised US$8 million in seed funding, the company announced in early September.

The round was led by Kleiner Perkins, with participation from investors including Kris Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Michael Rubin, Sara Blakey, and Sheryl Sandberg.

Phia, based in the US, helps users compare prices of fashion items via a mobile app and browser extension.

The company said it launched in April 2025 and now has around 500,000 users.

Phia’s search technology covers more than 300 million fashion items, according to the founders.

The new funding will be used to expand the team, which currently comprises 12 people.
