US AI recorder startup Plaud launches in Indonesia
Plaud, a San Francisco-based maker of AI wearable recording devices, launched in Indonesia on 29 September 2026 with the Plaud Note Pro and NotePin S as part of its Southeast Asia strategy.
The devices record phone calls and in-person conversations, then turn them into transcripts, summaries, and action points in more than 112 languages, including Bahasa Indonesia, Javanese, and Sundanese.
Users can also choose different languages for the original conversation and the summary.
Plaud said the Note Pro is priced at 3.5 million rupiah (US$200) while the NotePin S costs 3.4 million rupiah (US$190).
The products are available through nearly 70 stores operated by retail partners, including Urban Republic, Gramedia, and iBox.
They are also sold online through Shopee, TikTok Shop, Tokopedia, Blibli, and Plaud’s Southeast Asia website.
The launch also raises privacy questions because Indonesia’s personal data law applies to personal data processing, including identifiable voice recordings and AI-generated transcripts.
If those recordings or transcripts are processed outside Indonesia, the law also requires safeguards for cross-border transfers.
