US AI logistics startup Augment nets $85m series A

Augment, a logistics AI startup founded by Deliverr co-founder Harish Abbott, raised US$85 million in a series A round led by Redpoint.

The company offers an AI assistant called Augie that automates routine tasks for freight shippers, carriers, and brokers.

The funding follows a US$25 million seed round in March 2025, with new backers including 8VC and Autotech Ventures.

Augment said its customer base has more than doubled, and the new funds will be used to hire 50 engineers and expand product features.

The company competes with logistics AI players like Vooma and FleetWorks, while FedEx and UPS develop their own AI technology.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Lightning-fast funding rounds signal urgent demand for logistics automation

  • Augment’s progression from $25 million seed to $85 million Series A in just five months reflects the industry’s need for efficiency solutions in a $7 trillion global logistics market 1.
  • The company’s early customer Armstrong Transport Group achieved a 40% reduction in invoice delays, demonstrating measurable impact rather than theoretical benefits.
  • This urgency stems from logistics’ historical evolution—the industry moved from manual processes to mechanization in the 1940s, then data systems in the 1960s-1990s, and is now entering its third major transformation through AI automation 2.
  • The rapid adoption suggests logistics companies can no longer afford the inefficiencies of manual communication processes that Augment targets, such as emails, phone calls, and document chasing that consume workers’ entire days.

Massive market projections backed by proven cost savings create investor confidence

  • The AI logistics market is projected to reach $549 billion by 2033 with a 46.7% compound annual growth rate from 2024-2033, indicating sustained long-term demand 3.
  • These projections aren’t speculative—existing implementations show AI can cut logistics operational costs significantly and improve safety 4.
  • Major logistics companies already demonstrate real savings, with UPS saving over 10 million gallons of fuel annually through AI and Big Data interventions 1.
  • Abbott’s track record of building Deliverr and selling it to Shopify for $2.1 billion in 2022 provides additional validation that he understands how to scale logistics technology solutions profitably.
