AI firm Hugging Face launches 3D-printed robotic arm from $100

Hugging Face has launched the SO-101, a programmable and 3D-printable robotic arm intended for object manipulation and basic tasks.

The arm starts at a price of US$100 and is an upgrade from the SO-100, which was released in October 2024.

The SO-101 offers improved motors, easier assembly, and a camera for reinforcement learning training to perform functions like picking and placing objects.

Prices for the SO-101 can go up to US$500, depending on suppliers and tariffs.

Hugging Face’s robotics division, LeRobot, developed the SO-101 with partners including The Robot Studio, WowRobo, Seeed Studio, and PartaBot.
