Kai-Fu Lee launches new AI search tool

Kai-Fu Lee, CEO of the Beijing-based 01.AI startup, has launched a new AI search tool available on Android and iOS.

Called BeaGo, the tool also includes images in its search results. However, its main proposition is to provide a single search result for each query – instead of multiple tabs that users must navigate.

“When I joined Google in 2005, Larry Page shared his vision of a search engine where users could ask any question naturally and receive the right answer instantly,” Lee wrote in his LinkedIn post. “At the time, it seemed both visionary and nearly impossible.”

Formerly the head of Google’s China office, Lee has since set up his Innovation Works VC fund and, in recent years, increasingly focuses on AI. Late last year, 01.AI launched Yi-34B, an open-source large language model (LLM) that can be accessed in both English and Chinese.
