AI drives Chinese Q&A platform Zhihu to its first profitability

Zhihu, a leading question-and-answer platform in China, has announced its first quarterly profitability since going public.

Chief financial officer Wang Han credited this achievement to the integration of AI into its services, particularly the “Zhida” feature.

Launched in June, Zhida automatically generates answers by synthesizing content from verified experts and online sources. It has attracted over 10 million monthly active users.

With over 81 million monthly active users, Zhihu is often compared to Quora, X, and LinkedIn.

Wang highlighted the platform’s potential as a center for professional knowledge sharing, especially after LinkedIn ceased operations in mainland China in 2023.

Zhihu’s focus on AI-driven features aims to strengthen its position in China’s digital landscape, leveraging its network of professionals and scholars to provide high-quality content and facilitate discussions.
