🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Singapore’s strategic AI ambitions amid regional competition
Despite Singapore’s current AI adoption rate of just 9.9% (lagging behind Indonesia’s 24.6%), the city-state is executing a deliberate strategy to become the region’s AI hub 1.
This explains why Tomoro selected Singapore over countries with higher current adoption rates. They are positioning for Singapore’s long-term AI vision backed by initiatives like AI Singapore and the Model AI Governance Framework.
Singapore’s government projects AI could add $215 billion in gross value across 11 industries by 2035, creating powerful economic incentives to attract AI companies like Tomoro 1.
The city-state’s early development of Asia’s first ethical AI framework, emphasizing explainability and transparency, provides regulatory clarity that appeals to enterprise-focused companies entering the market 2.
Tomoro’s expansion reflects a growing trend of AI firms establishing APAC headquarters in Singapore to leverage its strategic position as a launch pad for regional operations.
2️⃣ Addressing the enterprise AI implementation gap in APAC
Tomoro’s focus on rapid enterprise AI deployment (8-12 weeks) directly addresses a critical gap in the APAC market. While 73% of consumers report increased personal productivity with AI, only 52% see similar gains in workplace settings 3.
This implementation gap represents a significant business opportunity in a region where AI is projected to boost the economy by $2.5 trillion 4.
